8th Grade Promotion

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM.  Gates will open at 5:30pm.  Parking is limited.  Please plan to arrive early and walk up to 2-3 blocks.  

Promotion gowns are now on sale for $25 online or at the Student Store. Students may also borrow a gown if needed. Please notify your PE teacher or email alawrence@sylvan.k12.ca.us. Students have already been sized for gowns during PE. Gowns will be distributed in May, not at the time of payment.

Request your promotion tickets today! Each family is allotted up to 6 tickets. Families may also request up to 6 additional tickets; however, these are not guaranteed and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Decisions regarding additional tickets will be finalized during the third week of May, after all initial requests have been submitted. Confirmation regarding additional tickets will be sent via email once final decisions have been made. Tickets will be distributed to students along with their gowns.  Please submit only one ticket request per student. Duplicate requests will void all previous submissions.

Promotional photos will be taken of each student before the ceremony in the MRP. Students should arrive in a gown and ready to be photographed by 4:30pm. Ordering information will be shared at a future date.

PROMOTION POSTERS

A long-honored tradition at Somerset Middle School is giving families the opportunity to create a congratulatory poster for their student to display during promotion.

This year, promotion posters will be done a little differently. Somerset Middle School will provide standard-size poster boards for families to decorate. Posters will be distributed beginning in May, with one poster provided per student. This will ensure that all posters are uniform in size and help limit the weight. Please note that posters should not be heavy, as they will be hung using tape. Completed posters must be submitted to the main office no later than 3:00 PM on Friday, May 22nd. All posters will be displayed on the day of the promotion ceremony.
